| The Barony, in the New Town at the bottom of Broughton Street, is a traditional Edinburgh pub, with an open fire and lots of wood and mirrors. It serves a range of traditional ales from proper brass pumps, plus the standard lagers, along with a good selection of wines and whiskies. During the day it serves bog-standard pub grub - decent pies, etc. which are reasonably priced, and the portions are good. It is a hangout of trendy-ish 20 to 30-somethings, with a smattering of old-timers and, being Broughton Street, the atmosphere is relaxed and genial. There is no music, so conversation is easy, and there are plenty of tables and chairs. |
